The Department of Accountancy offers a non-degree Certificate in Accountancy in the area of Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Examination preparation. The Certificate in Accountancy is earned through the completion of the University of Illinois ONLINE CPA Examination preparation course (ACCY 398). This course uses materials from Yaeger CPA Review. Yaeger's CPA Review is a comprehensive approach to CPA exam studies that covers all areas of the exam. With this incredible course, you get access to expert instructors, cutting-edge study platforms, a supportive community, and so much more. Unlike other CPA reviews, Yaeger cuts out rote memorization techniques and, instead, conveys vital information in a way that helps you remember and apply it both on the exam and in your new CPA career.
Features and benefits of the Certificate in Accountancy program include:
"The University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign is proud to be offering this combined program pairing the best accounting education from the U of I along with the unmatched success of the Yaeger CPA Review course giving our students comfort in knowing that our students are well prepared to PASS the CPA Exam."
The Department of Accountancy offers ACCY 398, Practical Problems in Accounting, for CPA Review as an online class. The class does not count for BS or MAS degree requirements. However, in the State of Illinois, the course can count for accounting hours and toward the 150-hour requirement.
Effective fall 2015, students will take the course for either 0, 4, 8, 12, or 16 hours (4 semester hours per CPA Exam section). The course fee is $1,400, which includes the Yaeger CPA Review (books and software, plus access to all parts of the online class for up to 18 months).
Non-University of Illinois students must register for the ACCY 398 class through the University's Certificate in Accountancy program and pay the appropriate tuition for the semester credit hours. More information is available at https://business.illinois.edu/accountancy/programs/certificate-in-accountancy/.
To receive the appropriate credit hours for the class, you will need to complete the correct number of sections in the course that correspond to the credit hours you want (for example, 8 semester hours would cover 2 Exam sections). Non-Illinois CPA Exam candidates are encouraged to check the requirements for their state since other states treat CPA Reviews for credit differently.
If you are planning to take ACCY 398 in fall, please consult with an Accountancy advisor if you have questions about which credit option you should select.
